Meg During the Holidays.....

I found this off of my blogger friend Hope's blog....and thought I would share this from the couch....with my hot chocolate....in front of the fireplace....snuggling with one Oscar Mayer.....under a fleece blanket.
1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot chocolate. Egg nog ruins milk and eggs. The two should never be combined in liquid form. Especially with alcohol added to it!

2. Does Santa wrap the presents or just set them under the tree? Santa wraps. My Santa even wrapped with duck-tape last year. Promise...I'm not making this up!!

3. Colored or white lights on the tree/house? White, non-blinking...no ice sickle....very traditional. No L.E.D.

4. Do you hang mistletoe? I have a large crystal mistletoe that hangs from the chandelier. No one really kisses during dinner though. I probably need to think about moving it so it can see more action!!

5. When do you put up your decorations? I start the day before Thanksgiving and try to wrap it up by Friday or Saturday after. It's a family affair though. H has to put up the tree and hang wreaths outside. I decorate everything else.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish? Chicken and dumplings, spiral ham, Mom-o's dressing, mom's sweet potato casserole, red velvet cake, pop's sweet tea (it's better than Milo's), green beans.....pretty much anything that lands on the table.

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? When Santa left a go-cart on the front porch. And when mom put on her wedding dress. And when my family did headstands in the middle of the living room floor until midnight. (these are stories all on their own that I'll have to blog about later)

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? 4th grade. Cleve Walley. (no, we were not related)

9. Do you open gifts on Christmas Eve? No....it has to be Christmas morning. H and I do exchange ornaments while decorating the tree.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? We have 2 trees. One is formal, dressed in gold and burgundy and the other is a collection of our personal ornaments (the ornaments include our Hallmark ornaments and ornaments of places we have traveled to).

11. Snow! Love or Dread it? Like it, but don't have to have it. While living in Memphis it snowed....then iced. I was stuck in my apt for an entire weekend. Power was on and off. My car doors were stuck with ice. No fun.

12. Can you ice skate? See previous post named "Ice Ice Baby!"

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? My go-cart. I was 5...and a rebel in the back pasture. I even had a helmet. Dad later slung me off of my go-cart in a brier patch. I'm still scared from this.

14. What is the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Being with my crazy yet oh-so loving family!

15. Favorite holiday dessert? Aunt Deb's homemade Red Velvet Cake. I could eat the ENTIRE cake in one sitting....It's that good!! It's so good that I wanted it to be my wedding cake. Mom later talked me out of having a red bleeding cake in my wedding pics. I had strawberry instead.

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Watching a Christmas movie on Christmas Eve. This will be our 3rd year to watch Elf. H loves it. Looks forward to it each year. Is generally snoring before the movie even starts!

17. What tops your tree? An obnoxious gold bow the side of Texas.

18. Which do you prefer- giving or receiving? Seriously! Give me gifts!! I have been emailing my Christmas list left and right! Dad....if your reading, don't forget my mandolin slicer. In all seriousness, I LOVE LOVE to give gifts. Seeing the reactions of faces is worth ALL of the hassle of buying Christmas gifts.

19. What is your favorite Christmas song? "Baby it's Cold Outside"

20. Candy Canes? Nope. Not for me. I don't like anything minty. I would rather have chocolate cake....or dressing....or green beans (Mom-o's green beans. The kind that you fry the bacon first, then add butter, then the green beans. You know, the 0 calorie green beans)
