Thoughts for Thursday

Well, it is only 30 minutes from being Thursday and I am sitting at the kitchen table doing homework. (Insert either long loud wailing here, or tears. Your choice.)
  • This whole grad school thing is stressing me to the max. You know why?? I'm OCD, that's why. Our teachers give us our assignments for the whole summer and tell us when the due date is. You can't do that to someone who is OCD. You know why on this?? Because they sit at their kitchen table at midnight and try to do 30 assignments way before schedule so they can email them to their teachers to look over, then make corrections and then still turn them in 2 weeks early. I relish in marking things off in my planner. There is no feeling like it. Sometimes I make lists just to mark things off. I want to finish all of my homework so I can enjoy my blue potbelly pool in our backyard! Yep!! That's right.....we are rednecking it up in BS with our $100 blue pool. I wanted a judgement free zone when it came to laying out.......so I created one in the back yard. H wasn't thrilled about it, but I nagged him until he finally gave in. I told him we needed to embrace the redneck-ness in BS. And boy have we!

  • So, my curiosity got the best of me Tuesday night. Remember the retired mechanical engineer in my class.....well, I finally asked her why in the heck she is in school. Then I asked where she worked prior to retirement...........get this, she worked on space shuttles. I almost fell out of my seat. Let me get this straight. You worked on space shuttles.....literally doing rocket science/math....and you want to teach 7th graders?? WHY???? And again, WHY???

  • I'm typing this little post on my new computer. It is so delightful!! Today I called Dell to ask a few questions about somethings I couldn't figure out. Well, a little man named Paresh Jain from India helped me out. He was a hoot! We chatted for about an hour and a half. I feel like we should be Facebook friends now or something. During our convo, he had to put me on hold for 3-5 minutes......due to that "brief" hold, he told me that "now would be a good opportunity Mrs. Jones, to drink a small cup of coffee, or tea of your choice, or even water while I place you on this brief hold." Well thanks so much Paresh, but I have you know that I have put on a load of laundry, cleaned up Oscar's poop surprise beside the guest bed and even brushed my teeth while being placed on other "brief holds." I got this. While Paresh played 20 questions for an 1.5 hours, I asked him what time it was in India........it was 1:30am. Listen. I wouldn't want to deal with someone me like asking dumb computer questions about the difference of .doc and .dox at 1:30 in the morning. Bless his little Indian heart for being so patient with me. I asked how he got stuck working the graveyard shift..........I don't think he understood what I was talking about. I finally changed the subject by asking another dumb question. Like, how do I change my paragraphs to double space.

  1. Hi......our blog address is now http://kevinandhope.blogspot.com/. Just wanted to let you know so you can update it on your blog list. :)

Oh, and hang in there with the classes! As a fellow OCDer, I was always like you, too......doing a semester's worth of assignments in about a week. Ha. So I feel your pain and will be feeling it once again when I start grad school this fall....or maybe spring '11. Ha.

  3. We're pretty sure you meant ".docx" not ".dox" Maybe that was the problem instead of the language barrier. :) From the computer nerds on John's Creek
