Picture this...we're supposed to be "practicing", everyone's on the floor, the lights are low, the nurse starts demonstrating the breathing thing...and someone's husband decided this was the opportune moment to do a Darth Vader impression. Complete with the breathing. "Luuuuke...I am your faaaaather." We were all but asked to leave. Didn't need it, anyway. Had two c-sections. Wouldn't do it any other way. No tearing (the thought horrifies me) and recovered quickly, despite what everyone says. Not even a Tylenol. I had a midwife who was fabulous and stayed right by my side saying, "you can do this" over and over until lo! and behold, I actually did it! In another state two years later I delivered another daughter with a Dr who had the audacity to say, "I could go ahead and deliver this child now, but I think I'll get lunch first and we'll get things rolling afterward." The nerve! While he was at lunch I begged for the epidural, and that was a pretty sweet thing. All three girls were born facing up instead of down which meant back labor. And I wouldn't trade a thing about any of it. Drugs or no drugs--it really doesn't matter. All that matters in the end is that they're perfect little gifts from God and they're YOURS! Do what feels right to you at the time and thank God for precious little miracles!Pattyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13113926884891684635noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12522831917635651.post-76943285708559680772014-03-11T14:53:49.522-05:002014-03-11T14:53:49.522-05:00If they let me labor for 4 hours like you did then...If they let me labor for 4 hours like you did then give me a C-section, I think I would be ILL! I also had to have an emergency C-section about 4 hours in so it really wouldn't have done me any good. You'll honestly be fine. The nurses and doctors will walk you through everything and after the delivery they will be able to help you with the stuff like swaddling, (never quite figured that one out) diapering, and feeding. Yeah, all that birthing class stuff fades away once you're actually laboring and delivering. :) Take heart, though--my drugs worked so well that I literally slept until delivery time! And didn't feel a thing! Labor and delivery isn't always horrible. Now our next child (if we have one) will be a different story.......I'll probably be sick as a dog the entire pregnancy and have an awful time during labor.
